Study at UFVJM
The Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri (UFVJM) is a public higher education institution headquartered in Diamantina, Minas Gerais. It was founded in 1953 to meet the needs of the region of the Jequitinhonha Valley. Its 70-year history is dedicated to teaching, research and university extension.
Over time, it underwent different denominations, including the Federal Faculty of Dentistry (Fafeod) and the Federal Integrated Faculties of Diamantina (Fafeid), before becoming UFVJM in 2005. Later, after the establishment of new campuses in the cities of Teófilo Otoni, in the Mucuri Valley, and the cities of Janaúba and Unaí, UFVJM began to cover the entire northern region of the state of Minas Gerais.
With over 18 years as a university, UFVJM offers over 80 courses and has more than 10,000 students in both on-site and distance undergraduate programs, with over 1,500 students enrolled in graduate courses.
The International Relations Office is responsible for the university's internationalization policy. Its main objective is to stimulate, promote, support, and implement technical, scientific, and cultural cooperation agreements between UFVJM and institutions abroad dedicated to higher education, scientific research, and development. Our mission is to promote the international insertion of UFVJM through cooperation and scientific, technological, cultural and academic exchange.
